There is allot of people writing about the President’s speech on illegal immigration last night. I would like to take a non emotional look at his speech based on a pro and con approach.
He admits how it is “stretching” the local economies resources thin. A bit of an understatement, but the admission is good.
Enforce our laws, no more catch and release.
Secure the Borders by using a fence or Barrier along with technology and increased Border Patrol agents.
Sending 6,000 Guardsmen to the Border. Not enough in my opinion, but ok.
Federally funding and training of local Law Enforcement, although no mention on what to do about “Sanctuary” cities.
Perform Criminal Background Checks.
Hold employers accountable and give them a way to make sure they are hiring legal employees. Basically so they cannot say, I didn’t know they had Social Security cards or TIN numbers.
He spoke about the Meting Pot, and immigrants must assimilate into our culture.
Immigrants must learn to speak English, although no mention of making it our official language.
Calling those who have come here illegally responsible? Sorry, coming here against the law, risking your families lives, is irresponsible.
We are a nation of immigrants. Yes we are, but come here legally or get out.
6000 Guardsmen is not nearly enough, and they will be in a “supporting” role. To free up the BP from doing non enforcement tasks. This is an insult to the Guard, and to us, to put them in a administrative role.
He says we should not, and will not, Militarize the border. Why not? How else do you secure borders exactly. Especially when there are reports of the Mexican Army coming across the border. I was able to verify at least one such claim where they actually arrested our citizens on our soil. If one is true, it is likely the others are as well. But let us say that it was drug traffickers in Mexican uniforms, with military vehicles and weapons. The Border Patrol is not equipped to deal with them, and are actually told to stand down when encountering them.
Ya know, I just heard a National Guard member say, they are not happy about not being used to physically guard the border. He said it best: what part of Guard don’t you understand? We seem to have a problem understanding English in this country. What part of ILLEGAL don’t you understand?
Mexico is our friend…Really? Well, with friends like this we don’t need any enemies. The Mexican government assists their citizens to come to this country and once here help them further by supplying Matricular ID Cards, Bank accounts, mortgages and legal representation used against our citizens who dare to try and stop them from coming here illegally. They also siphon off an additional 20 billion a year from our economy; some friends.
Earned citizenship, a path to citizenship, or Amnesty, whatever you want to call it, rewards people here who have broken our laws with the greatest gift we have to offer; citizenship. There is already a path to “earned citizenship,” it starts outside of our borders. It is earned by filing paperwork, paying fees and waiting. His concept, and the Senate plan, would allow those here illegally to stay while waiting for citizenship. They get exactly what they want, to stay here indefinitely while waiting for citizenship; win-win. Not only that, but the plan in the Senate would allow them to bring their EXTENDED family here, up to their parents. Do the math, how many family members you think they have? What will this do? We are looking at a huge population explosion.
On top of the above he wants a guest worker program, where they can apply for citizenship. Is he just plainly nuts? The current Senate plan which comes from the Presidents concept will bring an estimated 100 million immigrants into this country. He is making the situation worse for Americans, and better for immigrants mostly from south of the border.
They talk about how deportation will cost too much and would be to difficult administratively. How much will it cost to process maybe 100 million immigrants? How will this be easier administratively?
The speech was a nightmare, and worse than I expected.
I at least expected him to put the Guard on the border to GUARD! This is nothing but a way to shut us up and make us think he is doing all he can to secure the border. Well, it hasn’t worked on me.
I knew he wanted a guest worker program, but I thought it was for those already here illegally. He is offering a guest worker program on top of those that are already here illegally. Not only that, they can also apply for citizenship on top of amnesty for those here illegally.
The President is completely wrong on this issue and the people are going to let him know. If what he wants is voted on in Congress, the country is toast. There will be nothing we can do to fix the damage, nothing. So, we better keep fighting to stop it dead in its tracks. We will remember in November, but it will not fix the damage.
Look Mr. President, it is simple:
- Secure the border by any means necessary. This includes the Military.
- Stiff penalties for employers, which are actually enforced.
- No taxpayer funded programs for illegals or their families. (including school for children of illegals and non-emergency medical care for any illegal)
- No “Anchor Babies” (no automatic citizenship for children of illegals born in the US)
- No path to Citizenship in any name or form for those here illegally.
- No Guest worker program until the above measures are put in place and the need can be PROVEN
- English only education and the official language of the USA
No need to round up people and deport them, they will just leave.
